Community Prenatal Classes
Community Prenatal Classes provide evidence-based information to help guide expectant families through their labor, birth and early parenting. Group classes are scheduled regularly throughout the year, alternating between 7-week class series (Monday evenings) and weekend workshops. Private sessions are also available (when required).
The main topic areas for the sessions include information on birth preferences, basic anatomy, the stages of labor, natural comfort measures, the role of the labor support person, common hospital interventions, pain medication options, newborn care, early parenting, breastfeeding and postpartum care.
Families are also provided with updated information in regards to the Covid-19 situation and new policies/procedures for labor and birth at the Valley Regional Hospital.
